Boats on calm Windermere
Sailing boats at Waterhead with early morning mist in the distance. Waterhead is at the northern end of Windermere which is the largest lake in England. It is a popular tourist destination and can have spectacular views all year round. It is about 10 to 15 minutes from the centre of Ambleside on foot and there are bus services.
